Presence 8.5 IM problems

We have a new Presence 8.5 Cluster with 2 nodes in high availibility.

The problem is that people assigned to node 1 cannot see the status of or add contacts that are assigned to node 2. And vice versa.

Hi,

Do you have those nodes in one subcluster or they form two subclusters (1 node each) ?

Did you move nodes / users before this issue started happening ?

Does the issue resolve after a restart of the XCP Router on both nodes ?

Is there any issue reported by the troubleshooter ?

Regards,

Christos

Was there ever a resolution to this?  I'm having the same problem.

I just upgraded 7.0.1 to 8.5.3 and now users in node1 can't see/contact users in node2.

They are in the same subcluster, there is only one subcluster.

I've moved users in and out of hte nodes troubleshooting since the issue, but not prior.

I cannot find the "XCP Router" service, but htere are several other "XCP...." services.

Troubleshooter reports all OK

All,

In most cases this is due to a routing problem between the two nodes.  The XCP Router service is responsible for routing these requests.  This issue usually arises when the two CUPS servers are in different VLANs / subnets.  The default communication between XCP Router services is to use MDNS which is a broadcast protocol.  You can change this behavoir by doing the following:

1) Log into the presence administration page

2) Go to System -> Cluster Topology -> Settings

3) Change the Routing Communication Type parameter to Router to Router.

4) Restart the XCP Router services on all nodes.
