Problem with 7975G, Plantronics W740 Savi and APC-41 cable

More than occasionally I have a problem with what I can best describe as an out-of-sync issue.  When I select the my connected 7975G phone (connected to a ISR 2901 with CME) on the W740 base, then hit the headset button on the 7975G base, it will begin to go on-hook and off-hook... cycling endlessly.  I have to remove power from the base or try to re-cycle the power on the cisco base set.  That only temporarily solves the problem.

I anyone knows if this is fixed in 7975G firmware, or there is something else to try, please share.

Is it one phone having this issue? 

I know Plantronics has been through at least 3 iterations of the APU-7x EHS cable so their may be a known issue with the version you are using.
