For Unity Connection cluster, you need an HA license that is registered to the License MAC of the Subscriber and that license needs to be loaded locally on the Subscriber (i.e., you have to go the Admin page directly on the Subscriber - not the Publisher - and upload that license there).  So, there is a Unity Connection HA part number SKU that you have to order to get the PAK key for that license.  With the cluster licensing, it's basically like this:

Publisher - has a license registered to its License MAC.  It is a full license in that it contains Subscribers, Ports, Features, etc.

Subscriber - has an HA license registered to its License MAC.  It is a port license that specifies the number of ports on that server.  Other items (Subscribers, etc) are inherited from the Publisher license.

all license HA on Unity connection should be intalled on unity subscriber ?

Yes, there is a separate license for the Subscriber - you need to ensure you've ordered the HA PAK to get that license.  It must be registered to the Subscriber MAC and loaded locally on that server.

5+5 for Dave and Rob because I always learn and bookmark whart you guys share.

But I have a follow up Q to this...

I am looking at 9.0 SKUs for CUWL in Netformix and it no longer has the UNITYCN8-HA-PAK part number, and in the OG, its not discussed any more.

In 9.0, there also isnt a UNITYCN9-K9 like there was for UNITYCN8-K9 whhere you could specify UCXN HA and ports.

Should we assume that ELM takes over for this, like it does for CUCM Nodes, where in 8.6 I could specify quantity of nodes (like 3 for a PUB an 2 SUBs) but in 9.0 that is no longer there either?

Hey Steve,

You are most correct my friend +5 for being "on the money" (as usual)

Here's a clip;

Licenses and Cisco Unity Connection Clusters

In a Cisco Unity Connection (high availability) environment, only the  publisher server needs to be configured and connected with the ELM to  obtain the license status and for the license enforcement. When the  publisher server stops functioning (for example, when it is shut down  for maintenance), the subscriber server handles all the incoming calls  for the cluster for 60 days grace period. However, if the publisher  server does not resume its normal function within the 60 days grace  period, Connection will move to "Expire" state.
