Unity Server

We have a Unity Server which emails users when they receive voicemail. This action occurred from the day we installed it. We would like to be able limit this feature. We would like to choose which users who receive email. How do we do this? We have the latest Windows version of Unity which is voicemail only. We have two Cisco Callmanagers (Publisher and Subscriber)

If you have Unified Messaging you can only turn it off per user basis doing the following:

-Let?s suppose you have a user called "John Smith" in AD.

-As you imported that user from Exchange to Unity, you currently have a user ID "JSmith" in Unity.

-Make note of all the settings for user "JSmith" in Unity, then go ahead and delete the user "JSmith" ONLY FROM UNITY ADMIN (this will not eliminate this

user from AD and Exchange).

-Create a user "JSmith2" in Active Directory.

-Import user "JSmith2" from Exchange to Unity. Then, for this new user, specify the same settings that you were using for "JSmith". Is very important to specify the same phone extension number.

Thanks for your help. I'm a little disapointed that Unity doesn't provide a cleaner way for us to turn off the email notification.

You could always setup a Rule Wizard in Outlook to move the voicemail to a sub folder. It would work in the background and they would never know. The only issue you would run into is that now the MWI light will not function. (it scans the Inbox folder of the subscriber for new voicemails, or read voicemails to light the MWI on/off.)

Double accounts work, but are a pain. Since the voicemail really is not a message notification, its actually a delivery to the subscribers inbox. There is not other place to "dump" the message but the inbox of the subscriber. Hence, a new email/voicemail notification is flagged in Outlook.

What happens to the user's recorded greetings when you delete the unity subscriber? ~Surely these things will be lost? Is there a way to export the recorded greetings to the new profile jsmith2?

For "one offs" like this one, you can go into the SA page of Unity and pull up the subcriber, you can then save a copy of their recorded name, greetings to your drive. Then upload them back after you create them again. You can also log into Outlook and save the voicemails to a PST, then bring them back over.

Then the person just needs to reset their PIN or you can type it in for them. I usually do this for VP's or something that is upper brass and don't have time to deal with a vm problem like this. Otherwise I tell the rest of migions tough, reset up your voicemail account from scratch.
