Voice router Temperature high

Hi All,

We do have a Cisco Router, in which we are getting high Temperature alert from Solarwinds while I am checking it's showing temperature is normal with "show environment" but as per the documentation the normal operating temperature is -32° to 104°F (0° to 40°C) and I am getting 50°C on CPU. Also while checking found that the FAN setting is on low speed, Is there anyway to higher the FAN speed to reduce CPU temperature or any other way to cool down the system.

Please find the attached output for show environment.

Since the show environment command indicates everything is normal, the router is operating as expected.

Hi Nithin,

Thanks for the update, but when we are checking the data sheet, It is saying that the operating temperature is between -32° to 104°F (0° to 40°C). So the CPU is high by 10°C. That's why I am confused.

If I’m not wrong, 50°C is also a normal operating temperature. I’ve seen sites with CPUs running at 50°C. The installation guide mentions this. As far as I know, 50°C is normal since the router hasn’t triggered any high-temperature warnings. Also, check the “show environment history Temp” command to see if there was a high temperature reported before. This might be why SolarWinds is triggering a high-temperature alert. SolarWinds might be set to trigger an alarm if the CPU temperature reaches 50°C.

My router is running at 31°C. Since yours is at 50°C, you should recheck the data center cooling.
