Voicemail for a virtual device

What would be the simpliest method to accomplish the following:

Currently we are running CCM 3.3(2) and Unity 4.0(3) with Cisco IP phones. Can a subscriber account be set up without having a physical IP phone with the associated DID of the subscriber account? We would like to set up voicemail for four users in another office (who will only dial into Unity to check for messages) and would like to use only one DID with an associated Directory Handler to then go to four separate mailboxes.

Can someone give advice on a way to accomplish this request? Thanks.

Create 4 dummy 7910 phones with dummy mac-address. Assign them a line number, and "Call Forward All" to voicemail pilot. In Unity, create 4 subscriber accounts for the extensions of the dummy phones you just created. add the extension number in the profile page for each subscriber. Whenever the DID gets a call, bcuz of CFAll, the call will go directly to the subscriber's voicemail.

The next one I believe is you want to assign the Directory Handler a DID extension, so that external callers can dial the handler directly, correct? If so, the config is same as above. Create a dummy 7910 phone with the DID as extension/line, and CFAll to Unity pilot. In the new directory handler profile page, assign it the DID extension.

Actually, Unity wont lookup directory handler's on inbound calls for lookups - it only looks for call handlers and subscribers in that case. The IDs on name lookup handlers are only used for lookups when a caller enters an extensions from the Unity auto attendant - not on forwarded/direct calls into Unity.

If you want DID numbers to dump into a particular name lookup handler, you'll have to setup a call routing rule to do that explicitly.

I used the suggestion of creating the dummy MAC addresses for 5 phones. Unity accounts were set up for the 5 DIDs. For the main number, the caller input was edited to have the keys forward to directly to the other 4 subscribers' mailboxes.

Again, thanks for the input.
