Calling 'synthetic call' experts

Hi Everyone,

I'd be grateful if you could lend me your experience to the following scenario.

We have pretty-much all the Cisco UC applications you could think of in 2 data centres:  CUCM, CUP, Unity Connection, CUOM, CUSM etc.

I'm trying to understand how synthetic calls could help us test the connection to our edge sites.  Strangely, the physical phones at the edge site do not belong to us, hence why I need to understand how synthetic calls can help us.

What would be brilliant is if I could host a synthetic call client on our on-site IOS gateway, although I suspect this isn't possible?   Perhaps I need to add 1040 probes - I confess I know nothing about them at the moment.

Ultimately, I need to understand call quality, from the edge site, without using the physical phones that are out there.

Your expertise, as always, very very much appreciated.

Hi Stu,

Since the RTP ( actual voice packet ) is always between end points you can not keep phones in your mail site and do testing.

If you have any PC installed in edge site, you can install CIPC and test the deployment.
