Please let me know if it makes sense to run Cisco Call Manager in a different cloud other than UCS...if so, please let me know best practices. Thank you.

Hi Kandiceā¦
For CUCM and other virtualized Collaboration apps running on-premises, they can run on top of VMware on UCS or non-UCS hardware.
No other hypervisor support at this time.
For running those apps in a public cloud IaaS, Cisco Meeting Server can run on AWS, but other than that no support at this time.
Amazon and VMware recently announced a āVMware Cloud on AWSā offer
TBD if this will be feasible as a āspecs-based-third-partyā type of deployment. Not many details yet since this apparently wonāt be in production for another few quarters.
Whatās motivation behind the ask for CUCM on a public cloud IaaS?
For those seeking Cloud Collaboration we have Cisco Spark.
For our on-premises installed base seeking cloud connectivity we have Spark Hybrid Services.

Simply asking - can Cisco Call Manager run on a public cloud other than
AWS? Please let me know at your earliest. Thank you!

It would have to be a public cloud IaaS that used VMware vSphere ESXi and enabled all of the rules on www.cisco.com/go/uc-virtualized to be satisfied. At this time not aware of any public cloud providers that meet these criteria.
The upcoming "VMware Cloud on AWS" *might* meet these criteria, but we won't know until we get more details on the service, and after talking with VMware, those details won't be available for another few quarters.

Is this still the case? We have a goal to move all/most of our infrastructure to the cloud. I'm trying to avoid moving to a cloud provider like RingCentral or the like.

Yes 12.5 slated end of the year will be the time to support Vmware on AWS(not native aws). Keep in mind there is also Broadsoft coming via Webex calling (further out) and so if the desire is "cloud" that is an option too vs RC/8X8

@Justin...
Iām the PM for UCM server/OS/virtualization.
For āpublic cloud IaaSā support, UCM+IMP 12.5 (not yet FCS) will permit VMware Cloud (not the same thing as ānativeā AWS) as a new specs-based-3rd-party-infra option.
Details will post closer to CSR 12.5 launch.
Would love to hear your reasons/drivers behind the ask, and why IaaS instead of Cisco SaaS (HCS, Webex Calling, BroadSoft)? (you can 1:1 me if donāt want to post here). Also obviously glad youāre avoiding 3rd-party SaaS, would love to know the whyās behind that too.
