All,
I have an issue with Cisco VMO 8.5.4 and 8.6...(latest version available) and users not being able to forward voicemails externally. I am already aware there are known issues with version 8.5.4 but have tested with the latest version on Cisco's site for download and I'm still having issues with the attachment .wav file being stripped from the message went sent externally. We are using Outlook 2003 SP3 with all applicable patches and updates. Any guidance or assistance in this matter is appreciated. Thanks Phillip

Hi Phillip,
Has this ever worked? When forwarding voicemails to internal users, does it work 100% of the time? What actually arrives at the external destination? You'll want to check what the message is going through in your network as far as mail routing/spam filter/anti virus, etc. that may be inspecting messages destined externally. Maybe something is stripping it off on its way out of Exchange?

It works fine if you do not have VMO installed. We do not have any filtering setup for outbound email on inbound. The message that is received externally is just the unity email minus the .wav file attachment. Thanks Phillip

There is a configuration in UC under System Settings>General Configuration:
When a recipient can not be found: "Relay message to smart host" or "Send a non-delivery receipt"
With VMO installed, messages are going to try to be delivered through UC. I'm assuming since the messages are actually arriving externally, but just without the .wav file, you have the SMTP smart host configuration in place. Is the configured smart host the same server that your corporate mail routes through to the external world? Is there any chance it's a different server than you're expecting that may be handling messages differently than your corporate Exchange server? Are there any firewalls/ACLs between the NIC of UC and the NIC of the smart host?
Easiest way would be to do a network capture on UC and a network capture on the smart host and view the first packet in the SMTP TCP stream leaving UC, right click and Follow TCP Stream to look and make sure the .wav file is included in the packet. Then compare the second capture to make sure the same attachment is contained and hasn't been removed.
