Cisco Unity MWI does not work with CUCM E164 Alternate Number

Hello everyone,

We are facing an issue with our CUC MWI feature.

Every extension in our CUCM has 4 digit directory number and each directory number has an +E164 Alternate Number.

In Cisco Unity the users are configured with E164 extensions.

The MWI does not come on or off when a voice message exists or deleted (the notify sip message is sent to the CUCM with e164 destination number).

But, when a translation pattern (convert the +E164 number to a 4 digit extension) is applied the MWI is working, or configuring Message Waiting Indicator with 4 digit extension.

There is a for the MWI feature to work with +E164 alternate extension?

**We are using sip trunk integration with CUC.

Thanks in advance  !

Shellye,

If I understand you correctly:

Have you tried adding an additional MWI with the alternate extension? Uncheck the inherit user's extension and enter the e164 number for the extension? You will have two MWI's and an alternate extension, but the MWI will trigger on the 4 digit extension and the E164 extension then.

Within a user record >>> edit >>> Message Waiting Indicators. Add new.

If you have already tried it, my apologies.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your reply,

We have only e164 mwi for each user in CUC, the thing is that we don't want to trigger the 4 digit extension,

We want the e164 number to trigger the mwi - the reason is that we have 4 digit extensions in different partitions (according the user location) in our CUCM.
