Hi,
My customer wants to migrate from 8.6 to 9.1, however I am still unsure on how the licensing part is gonna be.
Currently there are DLU's installed in their 8.6., is there any steps/tasks that I should do first prior
to migrating to 9.1? I understand that cisco have introduced ELM in 9.0, but I'm still not sure how to convert the DLU's
to 9.1 license.
Thanks.

Hi Richard,
There are some "new" requirements that are nicely laid out
in the link below
Cheers!

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the reply. I see that I have to run the User Count Tool prior to upgrading. Is the UCT going to count base on the DLU's installed or the phones that are added in CUCM?
Also is it gonna be the same case with Unity Connection?
Thanks a lot.

Hi Richard,
You are most welcome
You would think your second query would be easy to
answer but sadly not....as with all Cisco licensing related
questions it's complicated
Depending on which 9.1 release you are going to 9.1.1, 9.1.1a or 9.1.2
there are different tools as highlighted here;
• Go to www.cisco.com/go/software, select Products > Voice and Unified Communications > IP
Telephony > Unified Communications Platform > Cisco Unified Communications Manager
(CallManager) > Cisco Unified Communications Manager Version 8.6 > Unified Communications
Manager > CallManager > Cisco Unity Connection Utilities-LCU.
• Use UCT release 2.1 if upgrading to 9.1(1).
• Use LCU release 9.1.2 if upgrading to 9.1(1a) or 9.1(2).
From;
And then there is what's counted.....it will be phones with owneruserID, phones
without owneruserID, and unused DLU's....
One of the best docs I've seen on this was posted up by Aman in this thread;

I wish I could give you a really concise answer here Richard but it's not quite that simple.
Cheers!
