CUCM9 - Mobile Connect

Hi All

Hoping this is a quick one to answer

With the more recent versions of mobile clients and their ability to directly connect to CUCM9 without a CUMA Server, is a pool of CTI Ports still needed on the CUCM for outbound calls to the remote devices??

Seems the old way was to use CTI Ports but now it might be all SIP based and doesnt need the 1:5 ratio of CTI Ports??

Looking thru Cisco Unified Communications Manager Features and Services Guide, Release 9.0(1) it looks to me like all you need to configure is some Remote Destination Profiles + enable a few settings.

Any guidance in this area appreciated.

Thanks

Mark,

The actual answer is quick but the response time from Cisco was way too long.  You are correct that the evolution of mobile device connectivity is now a direct connection instead of using CUMA.  For the mobile clients, they will register directly to call control and be a shared line, so no additional servers are needed.  If you want to use the cell side of the smart device, then RDP is needed to extend the call to the phone if the phone does not have a data connection.

Thanks,
