after searching the community i found this thread similar to my case

but in his scenario it was clear that DX630 was the issue , in my case i just receive 0d68db20-e1be-b913-b491-e8628c40eed7 and no device name or description

for any one with a similar situation i have managed to complete the upgrade .

i did a couple of things:

Disabled Extension Mobility service.

Removed backup device if any.

then i checked the error message and it seemed related to a phone button template

also i noticed that this specific template had 4 lines , so i searched for a template with 4 lines and there was only one (this setup is small with less than 50 phones so it was not hard to search through them all) the template was a custom template that is not even used for any phone , i deleted this template.

after doing those changes the upgrade process went smoothly without any error
