A user gets a voicemial, forwards this voicemail via Outlook to another Unity subscriber. This forwarded voicemail does not preserve itself as a voicemail and hence, cannot be checked via the phone. Is there any way to make sure forwarded voicemails preserve themselves as voicemails when forwarded via outlook to another subscriber?

If you have the VMO form installed on the client's Outlook this shouldn't be a problem.

Ok, fair. We haven't loaded VMO on most machines for this customer as they do not have sound cards in their PC (manufacturing company with many warehouses and old computers). Just to confirm though, there is no other way to have the voicemail property stick with the forwarded voicemail without the VMO form? How does that work, does that form mark the e-mail with the voicemail property.

To be clear it's not a "voice mail property" it's a whole bevvy of MAPI stuff - which includes among other things the message class and media flags - but yes, when forwarding via the VMO form it sets those properties. If you forward via just the normal Outlook form it forwards it as a plain old email with an attached WAV file which Unity wont play for you via the phone and which wont show up as a voice mail in Outlook (you can still play it but no VMO form link will be made).

We've got a similar problem -- user wants VM both on phone and in e-mail. We're working on the concept of having a separate mailbox established for Unity to deliver to, with forward-and-retain set to forward to his conventional e-mail. I see some potential problems with the Exchange interface on this, but haven't actually dug into it.
