Increase VM resource to Unity Connection and Im&Presence

Hello,

I have Unity Connection and Im&Presence in Ver: 11.5.1.11900

2 Unity Servers and 2 Presence servers.

The VM installed with the resource:

VM CPU Memory Disk Users
Im&Presence 2 vCPU 4 GB 80GB X2 5,000
Unity Connection 1 vCPU 4 GB 160GB 1,000

Now i need to increase the resource to:

VM CPU Memory Disk Users
Im&Presence 4 vCPU 8 GB 80GB X2 15,000
Unity Connection 2 vCPU 6 GB 200GB 5,000

I saw in "Supported Platforms List" doc that:

Caution

Changing the number of virtual CPUs, the amount of virtual RAM, or the number or size of virtual disks is not supported.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/11x/supported_platforms/b_11xcucspl.html

What is the best practice to increase resource in this VM's?

Thanks,

Asaf Goldberg

Hi all,
To the Unity Connection servers - I will backup and restore to a new OVA.

To Im&Presence Server - I look in the Cisco Docs, I saw a Procedure in "Upgrade and Migration Guide":

- To change the vCPU, make the change in vSphere Client. Ensure that you change the reservation value to match the specifications of the new release.

- To change the vRAM, make the change in vSphere Client. Ensure that you change the reservation value to match the specifications of the new release.

- To increase the vDisk space, edit the storage size using vSphere Client. If the virtual machine has two disks, expand the second one.

Update:
I Backed up and restore the Unity, and Increae the Resource on Vsphere cliect to Presence Servers - it's work perfect.

Whenever you need to adjust the OVA deployment, you can always perform a DRS backup of the application, deleted the VM from ESXi, and rebuild the entire server with the new OVA template and size, finishing with a restore from the DRS backup.

Here is the process documentation for DRS Backup/Restore in CUC.

Hi Anthony,

There is another way? Like shutting down the VM, Change VM settings and starting the VM?
