The purpose of using a loopback interface for both device management and VOIP sources is so if you have multiple connections and one were to go down you would not have to have multiple addresses setup. This also helps support making future connectivity changes where you might have to change addresses for the connections to the router (especially if it is a connection to a carrier and not within your control).
