Hi,

Can meetingplace 8.5 do local web conferencing? Where can I find data sheet for this?

Sharleen,

MeetingPlace can be deployed on prem for audio and video or it can be integrated with Cisco WebEx solutions. So, in the purest sense, MeetingPlace does not do local web conferencing. This feature now relies on WebEx. You can, however, deploy a WebEx node in your environment, integrate it with meeting place, and host web conferences on prem. Based on my understanding, you will still need to have a WebEx service contract.

How about video conferencing with the participants located in different sites connected by a WAN?

That is all I could find on CCO. The release notes for 8.5 were posted 8/10/2011. So I suspect the datasheet will be updated soon. In regards to your question, the offering is basically the same.

Currently..

MP7 can do local on-premise web conferencing

MP8 can only do Webex, but internal web users can be hosted on-premise with Webex node for MCS (Video is always mixed in the cloud)

There is no local option in MP8, it is Webex for web or nothing.

I've only seen basic info on 8.5 so I'm not sure, but direction seems very Webex focussed.

In my UC network, we are having MP 8.0.1.3 version. so, for local web conferencing we have integrated a separate local cisco Webex node in our UC network. and its working just fine. This can be a good solution.

But as per my thinking, MP 8.5 cant do local web conf itself without a local webex node.

In case, you are having local cisco webex node integrated with your UC network.

Local meetings will get run by your local cisco webex node.

and with outside participants (on internet) meetings will get run by cisco webex cloude only.
