Presence Unknown in Outlook for Mac, but fine for PC

Hi all.

We're new to the Cisco environment - just had CUCM/IMP/Unity all set up.

One issue we're trying to nail down is that the Presence indicators in Outlook for Mac display "Presence Unknown" (2011 and v15/Office365). The presence indicators all work fine on our Windows machines (windows 7 and 8, with office 2010 and 2013), and all machines, but mac and PC, are domain joined.

Would anyone have an idea as to why the presence indicators work fine with PCs but not OS X? Keep the mac-hate aside ;-)

Regards,

Nathan

Hi,

I'm pretty sure that Outlook for Mac presence only works with Lync/OCS.  In general, Outlook for Mac is extremely limited in integration, due to the way Microsoft develops it.  They take a completely different approach to interoperability on Mac than they do on Windows, including stuff like plugins, 3rd party integrations, and even differences in how it communicates with Exchange compared to teh Windows version.

Paul is right, this is simply because the API used for that, is only available on Windows version, MS doesn't provide it for Mac.
