Public Distribution List problem

Recently upgraded from 2.46 to 4.0(3). User tried to use their public distribution list to forward on a message to the group and they are getting a message back saying that "e-mail address does not exist". I have verified the set up of the distribution against the old one and everything matches. What has changed or am I missing something

If you look in the directory does the Distribution List have an email address on it?

If I look at the profile of the distribution list the "show distribution list in e-mail server address book" is not check. Is this the item you are talking about
