1) Two unity connection servers are supported in a cluster

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/10x/design/guide/10xcucdgx/10xcucdg060.html#pgfId-1052981

2) Depends on the specs upto 20,000 for both

Refer to above design guide and also the spec sheet here: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/10x/supported_platforms/10xcucspl.html#pgfId-703559

3) Join Multiple clusters

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/10x/design/guide/10xcucdgx/10xcucdg030.html#pgfId-1062645

4) As mentioned in Point 3 you can join upto 10 unity Connection clusters

Ref: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/10x/design/guide/10xcucdgx/10xcucdg030.html#pgfId-1062645

5) Sub will service voicemail, for more details refer to below:

6) You can re-install the pub following std procedures.

If you have more queries refer to the Unity Connection Design Guide: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/10x/design/guide/10xcucdgx.html

Hi Yadwinder - Not a problem. When new Pub is built you dont have to build the entire cluster. You build the pub server as per any new installation and then restore it from DRS backups.

Here is a reference to the DRS guide: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/drs/10_0_1/CUCM_BK_D220A91D_00_disaster-recovery-system-cucm-100/CUCM_BK_D220A91D_00_disaster-recovery-system-cucm-100_chapter_011.html

HiTerry,

Thanks for your help.

This is about step6:

So when we setup new publisher whether we need to setup new subscriber also or only publisher can work with existing subscriber in same cluster?

Hi Terry,

Thanks for your answeres, Now the last one....

Can we use the same steps to built  new CUCM publisher from scrap ? Do we need to install whole cluster or just Publisher ?

Hi Mate,

Yes the procedure is pretty much similar. Here is the DRS guide for unity connection: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/10x/install_upgrade/guide/10xcuciumgx/10xcuciumg020.html#pgfId-1174127

The previous link I referenced was for CUCM actually.

However there is one difference: When configuring backups for CUCM Cluster you configure Disaster Recovery System Backups from Publisher only and you can use that file to restore both the Pub and Sub. So you have one backup file which can restore publisher server as well as Subscriber server as well.

But with Connection Cluster: You have to configure the backups on both Pub and Sub. If you are rebuilding/restoring the Pub you need to use the Pub backups and in case you are restoring/rebuilding a sub server you need to use the backup file for the Sub.

Apart from that for both applications you just need to rebuild the server that has gone bad and not the entire cluster.
