Hi All;

Thanks for the assistance!

I don't know what was blocking the register but I used  another interface to direct connect the sip trunk and it worked.

Make sure that your bind interface is configured correctly on the router.
If you aren't getting a reply for register message then its getting blocked
and not reaching the other end.

I did not have the bind in the config, added but still no joy

SIP User Agent Status
SIP User Agent for UDP : ENABLED
SIP User Agent for TCP : ENABLED

SIP User Agent for TLS over TCP : ENABLED
SIP User Agent bind status(signaling): ENABLED  10.0.0.85
SIP User Agent bind status(media): ENABLED  10.0.0.85
SIP early-media for 180 responses with SDP: ENABLED
SIP max-forwards : 70
SIP DNS SRV version: 2 (rfc 2782)
NAT Settings for the SIP-UA
Role in SDP: NONE
Check media source packets: DISABLED
Maximum duration for a telephone-event in NOTIFYs: 2000 ms
SIP support for ISDN SUSPEND/RESUME: ENABLED
Redirection (3xx) message handling: ENABLED
Reason Header will override Response/Request Codes: DISABLED
Out-of-dialog Refer: DISABLED
Presence support is DISABLED
protocol mode is ipv4

SDP application configuration:
 Version line (v=) required
 Owner line (o=) required
 Timespec line (t=) required
 Media supported: audio video image
 Network types supported: IN
 Address types supported: IP4 IP6
 Transport types supported: RTP/AVP udptl

Then I noticed that all my internal extention's were trying to register.

Good afternoon,   I know this is an old post but do you by chance have a sample config of your Cisco 2821 bound to an external SIP trunk provided by an ISP.  I am currently setting up a Cisco 2821 that I have for testing in a lab environment and am having an issue connecting back to the SIP IP provided by my ISP.  Thank you.

I would advise you to create your own post instead of posting your question on an old post that is marked as answered.

You do the bind of interface on the dial peer(s) for it to know what interface to use for the communication with your SP. The rest is managed by the routing table on the router. There is no thing as such as binding to a SIP trunk.

I apologize,

The only reason I posted back in this post was hoping that the original
poster was still active and would be able to provide a sample of the config
they used since they were in the same situation as I am with configuring a
SIP trunk provided by a cable internet ISP.

Look at this document for how to bind media and control traffic to a specific interface. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice/ip-telephony-voice-over-ip-voip/211306-In-Depth-Explanation-of-Cisco-IOS-and-IO.html
