Speed option on VMO is greyed out?

I have a customer where all clients can use the VMO but the speed slider is greyed out. I have attached an image.

Any ideas why this is so?

I most cases, the speed control capability is dependant of the selected playback device. For example, the phone device does not offer speed control via the MM interface. If this is the case you are hitting, this is expected behavior. If the speed control is disabled for device other than the phone, we will need to get more information on the hardware and software plateforms. And this might endup being a sound card driver issue.
