UC 8.6 Supervised Transfer to Meet-Me

Before I raise a TAC case on this, just thought I'd ask the question...

Got a customer with CUCMBE 8.6(2).

I'm trying to route calls to MeetMe numbers through a Unity Connection call hander which grabs the caller's name and then does a supervised transfer back to the MeetMe pilot number. I've done this before in older versions of CUC and all works fine. However, in 8.6:

We set up the Meetme call as normal.

Caller dials our Call Handler which asks the caller for their name.

As soon as the caller presses "#", they then get transferred to the greeting of the call handler rather then being connected to the conference.

Interestingly, the Meetme originator hears a couple of beeps at this point, showing that somebody has tried to join and then leaves.

If we do a "release to switch" transfer on the Call Handler, all works ok, however it defeats the point a little bit :-)

I've tested "supervised transfer" to a non meet-me extension and that works fine - including getting the caller's name.

It's just supervised transfer to MeetMe that is failing. I never hear the name of the caller being announced in the MeetMe conference - only a couple of beeps (which I guess are join and leave).

From tracing the audio, all calls legs are using G.711 so I can't think of any reason why a transcoder would be needed. I guess the only call leg that may not be G711 would be when CUC dials the MeetMe DN but I've no idea how to trace this codec. I've ensured that the Port Group only has G711 as an advertised codec.

RTMT tracing (yuk) I think is my next task unless somebody can point out the "make supervised transfer work with meet-me" parameter that I need to enable :-)

Hey Barry,

Hope all is well my friend

check it out!

CSCub63364 - AA Supervised Transfer to Meetme fails when invoking local SW CFB

Symptom:

Supervised transfers from UC to Meetme number cause  call to be taken back to UC instead of transfer due to using the same  RTP port.

Conditions:

Observed in CUCMBE 8.6 and 9.x, but may also be present in previous versions as well.

Workaround:

Use release to switch or use an IOS CFB or MTP resource.

For some reason I can't edit my post..

Just to confirm, I have read another thread with this issue which was solved by configuring a hardware transcoder. As I don't have an ISR in this environment, this won't work for me.

Thanks Rob.

Looks like I'm upgrading... again! First stop TAC to get hold of ES50. What's the chances of any locales working on that release I wonder? Glad it's not me being stupid (which is a first for this week).

I assume you've been on the Cisco bug toolkit 2 week course. I can never find anything useful using it!!

Thanks again. Barry

Hi Barry,

You are most welcome buddy

I had to laugh when you asked about the two week Bug Toolkit course

I have spent more hours on there than I care to admit, but I almost exclusively

use the "beta" Bug Search Tool for all bug scrubs nowadays.

https://www.cisco.com/cisco/psn/bssprt/bss

This tool is still under construction so it's not perfect and new releases are still

scheduled before it becomes the de facto Bug search engine but I seem to have more success

with it.

Give it a try.

Cheers!

Just to confirm - an upgrade to 8.6.2.23048-1 fixed this issue.
