Unified Communication Manager Dialing Rules

Bob Lawson

In the Toronto area we have a number of area codes.

In the 905 area code some exchanges ar long distance and have to be dialed with 1-nnn-nnn-nnnn

while others are local and must be dialed without the 1 as in nnn-nnn-nnnn.

Users have numbers with the 1- that need to have it removed and others have numbers with out the 1- that need to have it added.

This is all based on the exchange they are calling within the area code.

Is this something that can be handled by dialing rules and if so can you please point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Hi

App Dial Rules are used when applications (e.g. CUPC) dial, they're intended to normalise numbers that might be found in peoples address book, directories etc.

How do people know whether or not a 1 is required to be dialled? (sorry, not US based)..

If you know which area codes require long distance dialling, I would be tempted to set up specific Route Patterns for those area codes which automatically prefix 1 (using the Called Number Transformations on the RP).

Aaron
