Unified Communications Upgrade Order of Operations

Hello,

I'll open a TAC case for this question as well but I'm interested in what you all have to say.

We're looking to upgrade our CUCM, CUC, CER, IM&P, infrastructure this year.

I've gone over and over the CSR Compatibility Matrix and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a document outlining the order of operations.  In other words, in what order do we upgrade the systems?

Below is the planned order, we have already successfully upgraded UCCX.  Does it look right?

  Current VersionMinimum Target VersionCUCM Compatibility

Have you already thoroughly reviewed:

A) Upgrade/migration guide

B) Release notes

C) Compatibility matrix (might be a separate document, or integrated into any of the above docs)

D) README/RN from the OVA

E) HW/ESXi compatibility

All the above for the target release, prior to putting together your plan?

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I have reviewed the CSR and other references and watched the CUC upgrade guide changed from active partition install to inactive partition install and back to active.

I would recommend to upgrade the voice gateways before CUCM. Also CUCM, TFTP and IM&P should be upgraded together as they need to be on the same version for five digits from left up to you get to version 12. From then on you need to keep CUCM and IM&P on the same version up to three digits from the left.

Other than that you’re plan looks viable.
