Customer is asking about setting up Unity Connection with Exchange 2003 as they are not quite ready to migrate to Exchange 2010.
I've set this up in the lab. Unity Connection can successfully "read" messages in Exchange. However, it cannot read the calendar, and voicemail messages do not sync to the Exchange inbox.
I've gone through the logs on the exchange server and found absolutely nothing. In going through the logs on the Unity Connection server, the only thing I'm seeing is a cryptic message in the mailbox sync logs that tells me nothing about what's going wrong:

This just repeats every time a mailbox sync is attempted.
I'm wondering if it's a permissions thing, but I'm scratching my head as to where it's out of whack.
The test of the Unified Messaging Service completes successfully. However, when the test of the individual Unified messaging accounts succeeds on every step, and then says FAILED ACCESSING....(continues with the server name). Under the recommendation column it says "null" and there are no details.
I've gone through the documentation multiple times, but I'm at a loss. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Cliff,
You may want to try setting the following micro traces: CsWebDav, CsExMbxLocator, CuESD and pull the Tomcat Application logs along with the Mailbox Sync logs to hopefully shed more light on why it may be failing.
Hope that helps,
Brad

The logs weren't particularly helpful, but the problem turned out to be not on the Unity Connection server at all. Turned out that that the URLScan option was installed on this server (the exchange server was built using the Unity Exchange message store....this entire setup is in my lab). The URLScan is really tightened up on this install and prevents it from working correctly.
I tried editing the ini file to get it loosened, but ended up uninstalling URLScan. As soon as I did that, the whole thing came on line working correctly.
