We have CUCM 7.1.5 four server cluster on hardware servers. Recently we have planned to upgrade this cluster to CUCM 9.1 on VMWare.
If we install CUCM 9.1 on VMs and do the neccessary configuration, can we obtain neccessary license from Cisco? We have UCSS for this CUCM cluster
We are not planning to do Linux-to-Linux upgrade because we need some configuration changes in new CUCM cluster. So our plan is to do a fresh installation of CUCM 9.1 on VMs and migrate exsisting license to this.
can any one explain how should we obtain license for new version and what will be required for it?
Thanks

I did the same upgrade path. After you open a case on licensing@cisco.com, they will tell you to use a tool called Cisco License Count Utility that will generate a report. So you send this report to Cisco and they will convert the existing licenses to be used on ELM. You can check the process on the PPT attached.

Go ahead and install your new cluster, then you'll use an ELM instance for the licenses, choose which one you'll use, and then reach licensing@cisco.com for the license migration as you'll need some info from ELM.
