URGENT: Subscriber server needed/Hardware Model not found on Cisco Commerce Workspace

Hello all,

I need help with an issue.

A client with a CUCM single node is requesting a quote for a 2nd server so he can have redundancy.

While I thought that the MCS hardware should be the exact same in order to have the cluster configured. I just read the following on Cisco.com

"While Cisco recommends using the same server model  for all servers in a cluster, mixing server models within a cluster is  supported provided that all of the individual hardware versions are  supported and that all servers are running the same version of  Unified CM. However, differences in capacity between various server  models within a cluster must be considered because the overall cluster  capacity might ultimately be dictated by the capacity of the smallest  server within the cluster"

The customer publisher server is MCS7828I4-K9-BE7. This model is EOL and it's replaced by MCS7828I4-K9-BE8 which is in return also EOL and replaced by MCS7828I5-K9-BE8B.

While configuring the quote on Cisco Commerce Workspace, I didn't find the last product MCS7828I5-K9-BE8B which is NOT EOL yet.

Please advise on the most suitable hardware model to use.

Please note that the current Publisher server hardware is as follow:

Is this MCS7828 running a Business Edition 5000 (i.e. CUCM and CXN co-resident on the same server)?

If it is, you cannot add a second node to the CUCM cluster. From the SRND:

Business Edition 5000 runs on a single hardware platform (MCS 7828), and it provides a single instance of Unified CM (a combined publisher and single subscriber instance). A secondary subscriber instance is not configurable.

If you are not running Business Edition and this MCS7828 has been reused for a traditional install of CUCM it is essentially a 7825 from a sizing perspective. So, you can order a 7825. Alternatively, you can order a C220 and install the new node on VMware. I suggest the C220.
