Viewmail for Outlook envelope stays closed after voicemail listened to

I was surprised to see that after you listen to a voicemail in Outlook with Unity Connection VMO 8.6.7 that while the message is marked as read and is no longer bold, that the envelope icon is still closed. I found a reference in this document that this seems to be normal behaviour: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/user/guide/email/8xcucugemail030.html#wp1010971 (see Note).

However, I also noticed that at some point in time, maybe a day later, the envelope does eventually open. Can anyone tell me what is happening in the background? Is there some sync process in Connection or Exchange that causes this behaviour?

Here is a screenshot of my mail. The closed envelope was just listened to. The others were all listened to over a day ago.

Was anyone able to find out any new information on this? I am experienving the same thing.
