Hi,

I have CUAE 2.4, win 2003 server ed, standard.

Over the last 6 months I have been recieving "Watchdog failed to start MediaServerService" error messages in event viewer on the application side of services, on our not much looked at CUAE server.

this error happens every minuet and has generated 3.2Gb of logs in the mediaserver logs ! so much so that the system keeps falling over.

I took it upon myself to run the "mmsserver.exe" and got this output..

Cisco Unified Media Engine v2.4.0000

CFIG audio base path is c:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\Unified

onment\MediaServer\audio

LOGD local logfile open as c:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\Unif

vironment\Logs\MediaServer\mms.log

LOGX print logger installed

REPO thread 50316 started at priority 0

REPO connecting to stat server ...

REPO connected to stat server localhost/9201

RESX exception thrown by licensing facility

RESX licensing unavailable and no alternative configured

RESX license facility unavailable - terminating server

MAIN could not open media resources

MAIN media engine shutdown complete

I think the two are related but why ? is it a licencing issue

any help appreciated

Megz

The error "Watchdog failed to start MediaServerService" may be caused due to errors in the paths mentioned for JRE and class path.Check if the class path is specified correctly and also the JRE path as typo in these paths may cause this issue.Upgrade of CUAE from 2.4.1 to 2.4.3. may resolve the issue.

hi smahbub,

thanks for your reply its much appreciated.

i'am downloading cuae-coreadd-2.4.2.0003.exe

i belive that is the right software to move upto ?

also do i need to install updated versions of platform services, media services etc.. ? i could not find these downloads on this site after extensive searching, only xx.0008.exe

alternativley i could try JRE and class path alterations, how could i do this.

yours a complete CUAE novice
