Hi,
Speccing out a M6 server and struggling to comprehend the difference between the UCSC-PCIE-QD32GF (QLE2742) and the UCSC-P-Q6D32GF (QLE2772), other than the obvious 2742 vs 2772, which appears to mean nothing. Can anyone shed some light? Will the QLE2742 work in an M6? All the documentation I can find from Cisco only shows the 2772 in the firmware files for the M6, but curious if we can run the older one without any issues.
Thanks,

Hello @mtexter,
Only the QLE2772 is officially supported for M6 servers so don't use the older one.
The QLE2742 is only supported on M4 and M5 servers.
As you noticed Cisco officially stopped listing QLE2742 as a supported component beyond UCS M5 so that you could not find any reference at the M6 documentation.
So while The QLE2742 will technically fit and might enumerate with a PCIe 3.0 link, it is not supported, lacks firmware updates in M6 bundles, and you may experience unsupported device warnings or boot firmware errors.
Needless to say that you won't get any TAC support from Cisco in case of any problems.
Long story short, only use the QLE2772 in your M6 servers.
HTH!
