C3160 unable to mirror boot SSDs

Hi, We are having an issue where we are unable to find the setting to enable the raid mirror on the 2 x SSDs in a Cisco C3160 server.

Has anyone else had this issue?

From the documentation nothing is said on how to enable this feature for the SSDs. The Raid card in the server only looks after the 60 other drives and not the SSDs.

Here is Cisco's spec sheet for these servers with it stating it comes with 2xSSD for boot mirror.

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/c3160-spec-sheet.pdf

thanks

Liam

The two SSDs can be mirrored in a RAID 1 configuration when managed in advanced host controller interface (AHCI) mode through your Windows or Linux operating system. The AHCI SATA mode must be enabled in the BIOS

Hi, did you find a solution for your problem??

I've got the same issue...

Thanks for your help

The marketing material is very misleading. The boot SSD's can't be hardware mirrored. It has to be done at the OS level.

Greetings.

On the C3160 you do have to use OS provided mirroring.

On your boot order, you would pick put a couple entries for the two SSDs in AHCI mode.

I believe the C3260 has the option to use the software raid functionality provided by the Intel PCH controller.

Thanks,

Kirk...
