Can't boot to HUU via CIMC

Hi there,

I'm looking to update the firmware on some old stand aloneUCS 220 M3S that are in our lab (to hopefully close off some CIMC security holes that were found) but when I connect to the KMV and mount the iso they don't seem to show up as a bootable option in the Boot Selection.

current firmware bundle - 2.0.13h

new firmware bundle - 3.0.x (latest I hope)

Has anyone experienced something like this before?

Thank you.

Hi,

Do you see any option which states KVM-Mapped* if you are going to F6 during the post?

I am going into the boot menu and do not see anything KVM-Mapped on the 3.x HUU.  I did load up a newer version along the current Firmware line (2.0(13)) and was able to see a KVM-Mapped device.

I've also tried to download different versions of 3.x HUU and have not seen any difference in my bootable options.

Thank you

Marissa

Hi Marissa,

Apologies for delayed response on this was.

Have you tried https://software.cisco.com/download/home/284296253/type/283850974/release/3.0(4r) ? (Latest and starred version right now, we can try this for checkup.)

Also when you say that you have tried 3.x HUU, that means you connect the virtual media and add the image to KVM virtual media and then after going to F6 you are not able to find the option for the mounted image?

We might need to look into your server over a webex session as this seems very different behaviour. I would suggest to open a TAC case for the same.

Akash

Thank you for your help Akash.

I did try 3.0.4r as well as 3.0.4a, 3.0.3a, and 3.0.1c.  Sadly they all mount via the KVM but none of them show up as a mountable device on the server when I push F6.

These are servers in a lab environment and over the last week we decided to just power them off and attempt to both purchase a new equipment for the lab.  Once we're able to get back into the office I may try and burn the iso to a disk and see if I can get it to mount directly.

I appreciate the help.
