CIMC ip for a FI-attached C240-M6 server in IMM

Hi, We have a couple of c240-M6 rackmount servers that are FI-attached and managed via Intersight. I have the oob CIMC port of the servers connected to some Mgmt-switch (Not FIs). There is a IMC policy > Ip-pool assigned to the Service profile template and I can see that the ip is assigned to the server from that pool under usage. But then I try to open https to that assigned ip, it gives me a vKVM window not a CIMC window. When rebooting the server, I see on the splash screen CIMC ip is: 0.0.0.0 and when pressing F8 to manually configure it it says that "CIMC is in UCSM mode. Enable the standalone mode and save the config".

What is going on here? Does FI-Attached not assign CIMC ip automatically from the configured pool. Thats what an IMC policy is supposed to do. What do I need to do to get access to CIMC?

Once a UCS C-Series server is "integrated" to a UCS FI the management domain moves from the individual server up to the FI/Intersight.

Cisco UCS C-Series Integration with Cisco UCS Manager

Cisco UCS C-Series Rack-Mount Servers are managed by the built-in standalone software,
Cisco Integrated Management Controller (CIMC).
When a C-Series Rack-Mount Server is integrated with Cisco UCS Manager,
the Cisco IMC does not manage the server anymore.
Instead it is managed with the Cisco UCS Manager software.
You will manage the server using the Cisco UCS Manager GUI or Cisco UCS Manager CLI.

Basically after integration all configuration should be done via the higher level policies.
After integration the CIMC IP is only for accessing the KVM/console/SoL.

What is the use case for accessing CIMC?
What do you need to do with CIMC which isn't capable of being done by policies?

I see CIMC still as a backdoor to the server, so its always good to have regardless. Without the Intersight mode, in the previous years where all was managed by UCSM, there was a FEX which got connected to the FIs and then all the C-servers connected both its data and CIMC port to the FEX. Now I am unable to recall if we still had a seperate CIMC connection to that server.

If this is how it behaves, then its fine, but then what is the purpose of connecting a CIMC OOB port of the server to some Mgmt switch? It has no significance.
