Cisco UCS C210 M2 and NIC-failover or NIC-teaming

Hi there,

Is it possible to configure NIC-failover or NIC-teaming on Cisco UCS C210 M2? The server got 6 NICs and it would be fine if I can configure NIC-failover/NIC-teaming or ether-chanel.

Thanks.

Teaming on standalone C Series (not UCSM integrated) is handled at the adapter & OS level.

This depends which adapters you have in your server.  If they are intel  you'll need the Intel ProSet driver which includes the Advanced Network Services (ANS).  For broadcom cards you'll need the Broadcom BACS (Broadcom Advanced Control Suite). This would be for Windows.  Linux & VMware have built-in teaming capabilities.

Intel: http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/cs-009747.htm

Broadcom: http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/faq_drivers.php (look under "Teaming & VLANs".

Both options offer 802.3ad (Link Aggregation) or Active/Passive teaming options.

Regards,

Robert
