Subscribe to UCS events w/ python

I'm looking to subscribe to USC events via python, has anyone put together any python modules for doing so or know how I would go about doing so?

at the scripts section of the UCS forum of developer.cisco.com there are two scripts which subscribe to the eventchannel. Both are written in Perl but it should at least point you in the right direction of generating the required XML.
