vCenter for Cisco UCS C220 M5 Server

Hi, my customer would like to manage Cisco Meeting Server 1000 M5 version (Cisco UCS C220 M5 Servers) using vCenter. My question is, which virtualization software should be installed in the server so that the server can be managed by vCenter? Is vSphere the right virtualization software to be installed in the server?

Full specifications can be found at: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/datasheet-c78-739281.html. For Cisco Meeting Server 1000, Cisco Meeting Server runs on top of VMware, and a separate VMware license is required.

You would need to determine which version of ESXi the meeting server is shipped with (and cable of being upgraded to) in order to determine Vcenter version interop.

Your ESXi host, running your Cisco Meeting virtual guestVM appliance, can be managed by Vcenter.

Hi @Kirk J, is BE6/7K-VIRTENH-7X the ESXi host for Cisco Meeting Server 1000? FYI, BE6/7K-VIRTENH-7X is the Virtualization Software Preloaded License option in CCW for Cisco Meeting Server 1000. If not, what is the part number for the ESXi host?

The SKU you referenced says: License for Cisco Business Edition Embedded Virt.
Enhanced 7x is factory-loaded. See Cisco Business
Edition 7000 Installation Guide for details.

All current versions of these servers would be shipping with ESXi 7.0 as VMware has dropped support for ESXi 6.7 this past October.

The physical server equipment specs are based around C220M5sx UCS rack servers, with 12Gb SAS raid controller, disks, DIMMs, single CPU (multicore). I checked a couple of sample orders and it looks like the base server hardware will contain something like "BE6M-M5-K9" plus all the skus for drives, DIMMs, CPU, etc. Depending on which software sizing sku ordered (i.e. BE6000H), the number of disks and memory may be increased. You will want to engage your Cisco Account team or reseller for exact details.
