Hi Guys,
I´m about to start a UCS implementation in a customer and they asked me if it is possible to have 03 connections between FI and FEX.
Do you know about that?
All documents that I found always mention 1,2 or 4 connections, never 3.
Tks in advance, Diogo.

Hello Diogo,
On 2104 module only 1,2,4 connections are allowed.
On 2204 & 2208 any number of connections are allowed when used in combination with 62XX Fabric Interconnects.

Thanks for your quick reply Matthew!
Do you know why Cisco doesn't permit 03 connections?
I'd like to have a better understand about it because I'll have to explain to my customer.
Diogo.

Hello Diogo,
In the 2104 module 3 link topology is not supported due to the way blades are pinned. 8 blades cannot be equally divided to 3 ports. Architecture changes in the 22XX series allow links to be port-channeled which lift the number-of-links limitation.
Will the customer's implementation use 21XX or 22XX modules?
Two-link topology with the 2104 should provide sufficient bandwidth for the majority of UCS installations. You could also choose 4 link if additional bandwith is required.

Hi Matthew,
Now I understood. Customer will use 2104 but I'm trying to push 04 connections since day zero to have a more scalable solution.
Tks for the explanations!
Diogo.
