Add another disk for UCS 210

Hi,

We want to buy UCS 210 from stores, because they give us discount.

We want to buy for example R210-BUN-3.

But we want to know how to buy the hard drives?

Does the UCS have already the caddy for the hard drive? and buy just the hard drive following the UCS Part Number?

or have we to buy the caddy and the hard drive like buying HP Servers Hard Drives?

regards,

Antra

Hey Atra -

The additional harddrives should ship with the drive sleds, so you shouldn't need to order any additional hardware.

Thanks,

Jen

As R210-BUN-3 is Cisco C210 M2, the choices are

  • R2XX-D500GCSATA 500 GB SATA 7.2 K RPM SFF HDD/hot plug/C-Series drive sled
  • A03-D073GC2 73 GB 6 G SAS 15 K RPM SFF HDD/hot plug/drive sled mounted
  • A03-D146GA2 146 GB 6 G SAS 10 K RPM SFF HDD/hot plug/drive sled mounted
  • A03-D146GC2 146GB 6Gb SAS 15K RPM SFF HDD/hot plug/drive sled mounted
  • A03-D300GA2 300 GB 6 G SAS 10 K RPM SFF HDD/hot plug/drive sled mounted
  • A03-D600GA2 600GB 6Gb SAS 10K RPM SFF HDD/hot plug/drive sled mounted
  • A03-D100SSD 100GB SATA SSD SFF HDD/hot plug/drive sled mounted

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/ps10265/ps10493/c-series_part_numbers.html

You cannot buy the caddy/tray/sled without hard drives and third-party hard drives

(like Seagate Constellation.2 SED SAS 1.0 TB) are not supported.

Q. Can my customer purchase their own third-party hard drives and use them in their UCS Server?

A. Installation of components that are outside the control of Cisco in terms of specifications

can have adverse affects on the performance of the equipment either immediately or over a period

such as exceeding draw on PSU (Power Supplies) over time, cooling of components within the chassis

etc. Furthermore, the “sled” that is used to house/mount the disk drives in the UCS-C Series Chassis

is not available as a spare, so mounting of 3rd party drives would present a significant challenge

to somebody who wishes to do this.

The official policy on the use of 3rd party equipment is covered in our Warranty Terms and conditions:
