Hi,

I have a C240M4 with 2 x VIC 1225 cards

I would like to place some of the vNICS on the second card - but my placement order is not accepted/adhered to

I have tried the following placement order methods - all with the same results

  • Specify Manually
  • Placement Policy
    • RR and Linear Order
    • vCON1 and vCON2
    • vCON 1 and vCON3

Ive upgraded firmware from 2.2(3g) to 2.2(5b) - no success

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

Mike

Are the servers directly connected to the FI ?

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/c240m4-lff-spec-sheet.pdf

The VIC features mentioned in this section are supported with the following

software releases: 2.0.6 (CIMC) and 2.2.5a (UCSM)

Yes, one of the 1225's connects the C240 to the FI's and it can be managed by the UCSM. The other 1225 is connected to N9K leaf switches

I think, although I can't find this in any documentation, that any VIC which is not connected to UCS FI, is not managable by UCSM, eg. service profiles,....

You see the hardware, but any vnic defined in the SP cannot be mapped to this adaptor.

Interesting - I'll rewire one of the servers and test

Cheers
