I have searched everywhere online & all I can find relating to changing the chassis number is this article:

My question: Is there a way to renumber the chassis WITHOUT decommissioning all desired chassis to be renumbered first? I cannot bring down the chassis at this point. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Hello Tara,
Chassis re-numbering is always disruptive change and can be performed when we re-commission it.
Is it possible to share on how the existing chassis number is affecting yoru deployment ?

Hi Padma,
It's really more a problem with documentation. I have a spreadsheet of physical servers & what blade/chassis they reside in, however when you look at the Chassis stacked in the rack, the top chassis is Chassis 2, then second is Chassis 1 & the bottom is Chassis 3. It's not suggested to label them either, because "Chassis 2" may not always be "Chassis 2" in case we ever move these units & they get powered off. It's more of a nuisance than anything. I suspected there wasn't any way around it besides decommissioning.
Thanks for your response!
Tara
