Hi All ,
I was learning the firmware managment on UCS and it was discussed that firmware managment is categorised under 2 main components .
My confusion arises from the point that , upgrade of the "Adapter" component can be done via 2 ways :
Equipment > Installed Firmware > Activate Firmware > Interface Cards
OR
Via Host Firmware Packages > Adapter
I am not sure why are there 2 different places to upgrade the "Adapter" firmware , is there a specific reason or design recomendation behind it ?
Thanks for all your help

Greetings Vikas,
Adaptor firmware really isn't classified as major, but it can be upgrade via the direct method (as well as Host Firmware Policy). The major components are the Infrastructure packages - IOM, FI & UCSM.
The reason is that if your adaptors don't "require" a specific version of firmware, then the direct method is the way to go. If for any reason you require a specific fw version (perhaps due to compatability or validation etc) then assigning adaptor fw via a Host Firmware Policy will tie a certain version to the Service Profile, and apply it to whichever blade the profile is associated to.
You can also assign the CIMC firmware via this Host Firmware Policy also if you so choose.

Robert
