Hi all,

I have a planned power outage coming up in the next couple weeks where the data center will go dark for a day. I recently deployed a few UCS C240 standalone chassis in the data center and would like to find out what the best way to gracefully shutdown and powerup these chassis'.

Thanks in advance !!!

Danny

Danny,

If this is the case you can configure the Power Restore Polcy to "Power Off"

*power off VMs or migrate them to another Data Center

*shut down the OS

*Shut down the servers from CIMC

Let me know if you were looking for something else and I misunderstood you.

Hi Qiese and Keny !! Thanks for responding to my questions !!! Appreciate your help !!

My concern is that power might come On and Off sporadically during the maintenance window and I do not want the servers to turn on automatically when that happens.

How do I ensure that the servers do not turn on automatically when power is restored beside unplugging the power cords ?

Once the VM's are shut down, do I need to put ESXi in maintenance mode ?

I see there are different options in CIMC, can you explain the difference for each of these options ?

Power Off Server

Shut Down Server

Power Cycle Server

Thank you very much !!
