Hyper-V Legacy NIC

I have WIN2K8R2+Hyper-V Role in Cisco UCS B200M2 with NIC model M81KR

That NIC is 10GB, but when I create Legacy NIC for pxe in child vm, I only get 100MB.

The parent NIC is Cisco M81KR but why after I create Legacy nic, it shown as Intel 21140 in child vm

How to fix that

this is not to answer your question. but just wanted to clairfy: how do you define VLANs for the M81 Adapter in Windows 2008 ?

MS said that is expected behaviour, nothing to do with vlan or anything.

I test in WIN2012 also only 100MB for legacy NIC

So how do you define multiple VLANs for your different VMs in Hyper-V ?

I think it is a driver problem. below is a screenshot from my local machine network configuration, where in there's advanced Tab to enable VLANs on the adapter:

This is normal behavior when you choose legacy adapter for VM.

Here is information from Microsoft:

 A legacy network adapter works without installing a virtual  machine driver because the driver is already available on most operating  systems. The legacy network adapter emulates a physical network  adapter, multiport DEC 21140 10/100TX 100 MB. A legacy network adapter  also supports network-based installations because it includes the  ability to boot to the Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE). The legacy  network adapter is not supported in the 64-bit edition of Windows  Server 2003 or the Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
