Hyperflex upgrade path and known issues

Hi,

I'm looking for some guidance around upgrading one of our Hyperflex clusters.

Currently this is a live cluster of 3 servers running HX 2.1(1b) and ESXi 6.0.0-4192238.

I'm aiming to standardaise all of our clusters to 3.0(1i) and ESXi 6.5.

I know that the ESXi will need to be upgraded to move to ver 3.0.

My issue is that this is a live cluster and must be done as an online upgrade, which i've had numerous issues doing on other clusters for a veriaty of reason which have ended up with having to TAC involved to remedy them.

So.....

My question is whats the best path for me to get from 2.1 to 3.0 without causing down time to the cluster???

Thanks

(P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong area.... 1st time user )

Andy

Hi, Andy,

From 2.1.1 you should be able to do direct upgrade to 3.0. Make sure to familiarize yourself with upgrade guidelines and prerequisites. Make sure to test upstream networking. Procedure described in the same document.

Hi, thanks for your response

But no I've tried this on another cluster and it fails as it needs the ESXi at V6 U3 as a minimum

Hence my what do I do 1st? and how do I do this as an online upgrade?

Cheers

Andy

Upgrade the ESXi hosts one by one first, make sure that cluster is healthy then and proceed with combined or split upgrade.
