Hi,

Checking BoM I saw that hx nodes Will come with esxi 6.7 pre-installed and with license.

But i dont see nothing Talking about vcenter. Do  we need to buy vcenter Separarly to vmware or license its included with Hx nodes?

Most often Hyperflex customers purchase a vCenter license separately either through a VAR or via VMware direct.

As ESXi is shipped on the server pre-loaded, the OS must be licensed.

So on Hyperflex spec sheets, the support is sold as a combined license item (correction to earlier statement I made).

The section under "VMware PAC Licenses" contains licenses and support (aka ISV1).

Those are the only items with term 'support'.  All other licenses, make assumption you have support options with Vmware directly.

In general, when you purchase hyperflex system, TAC hyperflex support team will help you work through any vmware issues related to Hyperflex storage or hardware related functionality.

Some examples of non-hyperflex related issues, where you would need to have your own support contract with Vmware (or have purchased the ISV1 type contracts with Cisco):

  • DRS issues
  • Most Vcenter issues
  • ESXi host PSODs with codes not related to hardware or storage
  • dVS issues not related underlying networking hardware

Not a complete list, but wanted to give you the general idea.

Thanks,

Kirk...

VMware vCenter License should be bought separately. However, ESXi licenses and support can be purchased from Cisco. This allows to get hypervisor and Hyperflex support from Cisco itself.

That is a good point.

As a reminder, VMware 'licenses' are 'right to use'. and do not include support.  Support is additional different line item, and will have "ISV1" in title when purchasing Vmware support through Cisco.
