MDS 9000 Trunk Extension

Hello all,

Our customer has installed two MDS 9000 family switch over WAN and they want to share zone & vsan configuration of one MDS to other.

In Brocade there is advance feature call Trunk Extension for same purpose.

Is it available in MDS 9000 ? Can some one share configuration here ?

We need more information.

- how do you extend over tha WAN ? FC, FCIP,....

- what is the distance ?

In general; no license is required for Trunk extension; of course you need a license for FCIP, extended BB credits,....

Extend over WAN via Fiber Point to Point Connectivity. Distance between both is around 9km.

We will use FC not FCIP, as there is no L3 device for IP routing over WAN. Its dark Fiber End to End.

In this case, you don't need any special license.
