Is this compatible with Table 25 in the B200-M3 Specs ?? I don't thinks so ?

Thanks for any clarification

Walter,

If the customer was going to install 6 DIMMs per CPU (total of 12 in the blade) the arrangement had to be:

CPU1 = A0, B0, B1, D1, D0, C0    move A1 to D1

CPU2=  E0, F0, F1, H1, H0, G0    move E1 to H1

-Kenny

Thanks Keny ! This confirms my understanding. This 192GB config should also clock at 1600 MHz (dimms and cpu support it) ?

Please see the detail for you query in the documnet attched ,Hope this may help you out  regarding your query.

I think this is a Cisco internal document ?

Can you please post it, and/or refer to public documents ! The situation becomes very confusing !

Thanks

Walter.

Yes Walter ,

This is Cisco Document ..for public Document I refer the below Spec sheet

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/ps10265/ps10280/B200M3_SpecSheet.pdf

Walter this is explained in the B200 M3 HW Install Guide:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/hw/blade-servers/B200M3.html#ID799

Table 3

For 12 DIMM Configurations (6 DIMMs per socket)

CPU0

A0, B0, C0, D0, A1, B1

CPU1

E0, F0, G0, H0, E1, F1

For above the memory would only run at balanced at 1333Mhz if you populate all 3 banks.   If you want to run the memory at 1600Mhz then you can only populate the first two banks as detailed in the thread above.

With 3 DIMMs populated per channel, 8 GB and 16 GB 1600-MHz memory devices run at a

maximum speed of 1333 MHz. Other memory devices are limited to 1066 MHz operation

when populated at 3 DPC

Hi Robert

There are simply contradicting facts:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/hw/blade-servers/B200M3.html#ID799

Table 3

For 12 DIMM Configurations (6 DIMMs per socket)

CPU0

A0, B0, C0, D0, A1, B1

CPU1

E0, F0, G0, H0, E1, F1

Hardware Spec

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/ps10265/ps10280/B200M3_SpecSheet.pdf

Table 25, says

CPU0
A0,B0, B1, D1, D0, C0

CPU1
E0, F0, F1, H1, H0, G0

Something is wrong here ! and a similar documentation issue exists for the B22-M3 (see my other note)

Thanks for any clarification

Walter.

Walter,

You are right on this one, there is a discrepancy.

On http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/ps10265/ps10280/B200M3_SpecSheet.pdf you may even see that for a 6/10 DIMMs per CPU config, the document only lists CPU2.

I will ask how we can give feedback on this, but it will "best effort" from my side...

-Kenny

Walter,

If  you have not, please open a TAC case if you dont mind and ask for the  confirmation in regards to the correction/confirmation about the docs  discussed, it is complicated without the case number for me.   You may  open the case with the keyword "Product Questions and Features"

You can use this thread to open the case cause they will need a case number if a doc bug needs to be opened.

Hi All

There is a public link to the Memory Configuration Best Practice for UCS M3 Servers.

Hi Azhar

Of course I know this document, but......

There are simply contradicting facts:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/hw/blade-servers/B200M3.html#ID799

Table 3

For 12 DIMM Configurations (6 DIMMs per socket)

Hardware Spec

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/ps10265/ps10280/B200M3_SpecSheet.pdf

Table 25, says

CPU0
A0,B0, B1, D1, D0, C0

CPU1
E0, F0, F1, H1, H0, G0

Cheers

Walter.

Hi Walter,

I raised this up to our Product Marketing team and they are in the process now of pushing through the required corrections to the HW Spec Guide. To summarize: Table #3 (Above in this string) is correct and Table #25 in the HW Spec is being corrected. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
