Nexus portfast and bpdguard

UCS B200MII

Nexus 5K

PVS 7.1

XD 7.1

According to that link, I need to enable portfast and disable bpdguard in Cisco and Nexus

My friend argument, no need to enable portfast because pvs and win7 vm all using vnic, which there are no user unplug nic on physical port.

Is that true?

If false then do I need to globally enable portfast and disable bpdguard on core sw and nexus

I am only referring to the network between UCS fabric interconnect and N5k

There's no spanning tree in UCS EHM running below your uplinks so you can safely utilize Port Fast.

Portfast should only be enabled on ports connected to a single host. Connecting hubs, concentrators, switches, bridges, etc... to this interface when portfast is enabled, can cause temporary bridging loops.

Is your question global or per interface ?? I would definitely do it per interface.

And yes: vnic talks to a veth interface on the fabric interconnect, which of course is bound to a physical interface (on the FI)
