Hi Guys.

I want to create a RSPAN session on the 1000v, i need to copy packets from a veth local interface and send the packets into a different flat L2 vlan, is this possible because i only see that 1000v can do local span and erspan?

thanks

Are your veths  on the same host?

can't do a span  across VEMs.

Christopher,

Unfortunately you are limited to just SPAN or ERSPAN.

louis

what so there is no way i can copy packets into another VLAN?

i thought 1000v used to support this or has that no been the case?

We never supported RSPAN.

You can set a vlan as source but I can't think of a way to set it as a destination.

What are you trying to do? Maybe there is another way to accomplish it.

louis

okay no problem thanks.

i have now configured a local span but i keep getting this error -

Src/Dst LC mismatch

monitor session 1

  source interface Vethernet2 both

  source interface Vethernet3 both

  destination interface Vethernet1

no shut

any ideas?

thanks

yes that seems to work now Robert thanks.

although i have just noticed another issues, i can no longer https to my VSM, i need to be able to do this because i am using the 1000v as an external switch provider with VMware vShield, which uses

https://10.200.7.86/n1k/services/NSM service API base.

but i cannot even get to https://

i can ping, VSM and provision port-groups to vCenter but i can no longer https to it

any ideas?

thanks

Can you check and see if regular http is working?

Just try http://vsm-ip-address

then check with show feature and make sure http-server is on.

louis

Post  the output of

show http-server

If its running, then try accessing from a host on the same subnet/VLAN.  Might be a firewall in the way somewhere.

Robert

the output is as follows,

nessa# sh http-server

http-server enabled

http protocol enabled

https protocol enabled

there is no firewall and i have tried from the same subnet but no joy

any other ideas?

I assume this worked at one time?  Might want to try a "system switchover" to see if that kickstarts it again.

Anything in the logs (show log | last 20) after trying to reach the VSM by https?

Robert

Hi robert.

i have rebooted the VSM and its now working, for some reason i cannot create a secondary VSM it never actually syncs with its primary. so i left that issues for now.

going to have another as to why i cannot get these VSM in HA mode.

Glad http server is working now.

Will the two VSMs sync up if you put them on the same host?  If not, then you have bigger issues.  If they're not syncing on different hosts, it's likely an issue with AIPC (control) communication.
